Journals and Tree Decorating

The kids worked really hard on their journals today.  Some kids have been adding some printing to their pictures lately.  Today, I encouraged all the kids to listen to the sounds they hear in the words of their pictures and to print the sounds they hear.  For some kids, they were able to write the first sound of one of the words (for example "S" for Santa).  For others, they did their best to print all of the sounds they heard in one word.  We celebrated every attempt.  Some of the children were a little unsure, saying they didn't know how to write words.  I assured them by telling them that they could hear sounds.  I was really proud of each and every one of them.  You might ask them about their first day printing in their journals!

This afternoon, we walked to the back of the school to hang our ornaments on the tree in Gerry's garden.  The kids did a great job!

Tomorrow is the Jingle Walk.  If you have any jingle bells to send along with your child tomorrow, we can jingle as we walk!

We will start walking at 9:30.  Please help your child stay warm by dressing him/her in layers and sending boots and snow wear.  Thanks!
