It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like......

We had a soggy, rainy Friday.  But that didn't stop us from learning and having fun...

Here is our special helper in action today, leading the calendar activities.

We made lady cane ornaments with beads today, 2 different kinds.  Next week, on the 8th of December, several classes are going to go behind the school to Gerry's Garden to decorate a tree for Christmas and to show our appreciation for Gerry and the garden.  Many of our classes are making decorations to hang on the tree.  Our contribution will be beaded candy canes.  We will be hang our ornaments in the afternoon.  Right at 3:00, we invite families to gather around the tree.  The choir is going to sing and the band is going to play and Gerry will be there to see the tree.  Maybe on your way to your car or while you're walking home, you could drop by and take part.

The other candy canes we made are to decorate our classroom Christmas tree.  These will come home on the last day before the holidays.  So we made one to give and one to keep and we talked about the importance of giving.

This was also a great opportunity to practice our well-developed patterning skills!

Some kids were finished faster than others.  This "pattern expert" put her skills to good work.....look at the length of her pattern!

This is quite an impressive structure.

Next week, we have quite a lot happening.  The Jingle Mingle is on Wednesday night.  I know you have been receiving all the information about that from Jenny (thanks Jenny!)  Also, we will be taking part in the Jingle walk next Friday and again on the 12th.  I will fill you in on what that's all about on Monday.  What I do need to ask is if any of you are willing/able to come and join us on the Jingle walk.  We will need 3-4 parents on Friday and 4-5 parents on the 12th (one of whom will need to drive along beside us to pick up bags of food donations).  If you are able to help out either or both of those days, please send me an email with the times that you can help and I will choose our walking time based on when we have the most helpers.  Thanks!

Finally, can you please collect toilet paper rolls over the next little while.  We will be using them for a craft next week.

Thanks!
